Insurance expert, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Barry Wirt, Jr. continues to use his influence to do the most good—in both his professional and personal life. He serves as President at Premier Life Strategies and Wirt Consulting. He is the founder and principal fundraiser for the Don and Barbara Smith Children’s Museum, a charitable organization which has hosted more than 50,000 kids in its first year since opening. Barry is also an active board member with the Western Virginia Foundation for the Arts and Sciences—the largest arts and cultural organization in Western Virginia with a mission to create and promote community projects within rehabilitated spaces throughout the area.
Through Premier Life Strategies, Barry works with a select group of high producing agents to serve high income/high net worth business owners and families. As President, he leads his team on all aspects of case design, client engagement, advanced sales ideas and continuous client service improvements. Passionate about finding solutions for large and challenging insurance cases, Barry, along with his advisors, has designed and placed multiple cases over $1.5M in target premiums.
For Barry, the insurance profession is in the blood. He credits his father—a highly successful agent—for teaching him the very best practices of this complex and competitive industry. After graduating from the University of Virginia in 2007, Barry became Mid-Atlantic Brokerage Director for Advanced Planning Services. After just two years, he discovered his talent for recruiting new agents and advisors. In 2009, he became COO of Underwriting Services of America (USA), which he helped grow into an IMO comprised of 40+ firms around the country—many of which Barry actively recruited. That same year, he co-founded Premier Life Strategies along with his father and another partner. In 2013, Barry shifted his strategy and began recruiting independently producing agents for both Underwriting Services and Premier Life Strategies. Since entering the industry, Barry has played an instrumental role placing more than a billion dollars in life insurance face amounts and tens of millions in target premiums.
Barry Wirt, Jr. was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. He is proud to be part of a large extended family that remains close to this day. Barry models his work ethic and parenting after the solid example set by his own parents. He is a devoted husband and loving father who enjoys golf, reading and building things. He and his family also share their home with two dogs.
